It doesn’t matter how wonderful your product or service is if you’re not able to create demand. In case you didn’t know dear friends, marketing is Vital, capital V! Now, you can hire a consultant, but learning to do your own marketing will be a much cheaper option and probably more fun as well. Andrew Griffiths’ “101 Ways to Market your Business” is a great book which provides you with 101 great tips on creative marketing.
Griffiths is a marketing consultant and convinced small businesses fail because of two reasons: there isn’t enough money, or there’s a lack of marketing ability. You need to make your business stand out of the crowd, and 101 Ways will help you do just that. Important in any business in marketing research; it should be done on a regular basis. It’ll tell you what your customers want, what your competitors are doing and just as important: how you’re company is doing. After all, you need to know what you’re doing right or wrong in order to make improvements.
What I like about this book is that 101 Ways to Market your Business provides great examples with each marketing recommendation. All are personal situations the author has come across in his career. They’re not just great to use in your own business, most of them are just quite hilarious to read as well. For example; at one point, the author owned a scuba diving school. He placed a dummy dressed in a diving outfit on the outside of the building. It got everyone’s attention, and even more when it got stolen. The local media was all over it. The dummy brought diving school an estimated $20.000 in free publicity.
One of the best things about the provided examples it that you can easily and cheaply implement them in your own business. Don’t forget to keep that positive attitude and you’ll be surprised how much fun you’ll have implementing Griffiths’ ideas.
101 Ways to Market your Business is very easy to read, even when you don’t have any marketing knowledge. Above all - it’s just so much fun to read. If you’re setting up a little business of your own, or are just thinking about doing so - I can definately recommend this book. I don’t know about you, but I am sure going to use some of the great ideas in the future!
