Keith Davis is only 16 years old, but already working hard to make his foundation a success. Keith started his foundation to empower, educate and motivate youth and teens. They do this by supporting teens in raising money for summer camps, purchasing school clothes for the less fortunate. They also aim to give youth and teens hands on experience in money management by opening saving accounts.

A brief overview of what your company does:
The Keith J. Davis Jr. Foundation is for youth, teens, and young adults. Our main goal is to educate, inform, and inspire youth, teens, and young adults to become entrepreneurs.

How did you get into business?
Well I’ve always had a passion to be an independent entrepreneur, and I was
seldom asked (by peers) how can I become an entrepreneur. I figured why not
start something where I can help other young entrepreneurs by teaching them my
personal outlook on becoming an entrepreneur and how to get there.

Did you run into many obstacles?
Well just starting my foundation and the K. Jer’Rod Enterprise are
achievements that I’m very proud of.

Which achievements are you proud of?
There were not many obstacles to overcome while starting my foundation, but
getting others involved and getting other people to listen and support my
vision was a task that wasn’t easy. But because I got out there and promoted my
vision, I was able to overcome that obstacle.

What differentiates you from other designer entrepreneurs?
Well from what I know, there are not many organizations doing exactly what I’m
trying to do. My visions and goals are different because I want to be able to
give aspiring entrepreneurs the resources and opportunity to excel on another
level of success in the business world.

What have been the keys in bringing your company to the present level?
Networking and just trying our best to get exposed in the business world.

Has your age given you an advantage in getting where you are now?
Yes, actually it has; because people see my youth, they are then inspired, and
are willing to support me and my cause. They also want to get their youth
involved.

How do you keep yourself motivated to work hard and to get even better at what you do?
I continue to think of the short term and long term goals that I have set for
my self; I know that I must accomplish them, not only for me but also for other
inspiring entrepreneurs.

What are the most important lessons you have learned along the way?
That there is no limit to my success, just as long as I stay focused, keep my
vision in mind, and believe in God.

What is your goal in life?
For the foundation, my goals are to eventually be able to have the resources
to fund my own workshops, youth events, and educational trips (All for
inspiring entrepreneurs). And for me; just to be an all around successful
entrepreneur.

Who do you get support from?
A lot of my support comes from my parents, my friends, and other entrepreneurs
who believe in my vision. With out them it would be very difficult for me to
maintain a positive drive. Because there are times when I feel that I want to
quit but can’t because their behind me; pushing me to the next level.

Who are your role-models?
My father, my mother, and Pastor Terrance Johnson are my role-models. Because
they have all came from the bottom, had a vision, never gave up, and are now
reaching to the top.

How important do you consider networking to be?
Networking is one the greatest keys to becoming a successful entrepreneur.
Without network and communication your business will never grow. You have to
network and communicate unless you plan on your business to stay in the same
place forever. I network, by going to as many events as possible, speaking with different
people, and passing out as many business cards as possible.

Apart from running your business, are there any other things you’re passionate about?
I’m very passionate about my grades and my education; I try my best to
maintain A’s and B’s. Because I know that without a good education, my success
is limited.

What would you advise people who dream of doing what you do now?
Just stay focus, have the drive, and strive for the top; because there’s no
limit to your success.

What can we expect from you in the future?

10 steps to becoming an entrepreneur). Also in May, the KJDJr Foundation and I
will be hosting the youth business connection at the Houston Black Expo. And
last but not least, I will also be getting the K. Jer’Rod Enterprise up in
running.
